Antique Gallery
Many of the antiques and illustrations pictured in the following twelve chapters are from my collection, but I have also included a number of artifacts located in museums, art galleries, and private collections from around the world. I have tried to include representative instruments from all branches of medicine and surgery, though this is obviously an impossible task, and one that remains ongoing.
I patterned the following Antique Gallery after my book Medicine: Perspectives in History and Art in which I presented instruments with contemporary art, quotes, and in texts to give the reader a better perspective of their use. I have tried to follow that pattern in a small way in this web site. You may enlarge each illustration by clicking it, and it will further enlarge with a click to the right upper corner.
Please enjoy the site and let me know if you have ways it may be improved through more images or information that you might like to add.
